How To Choose The Right Spectacles?

So you were told you had to wear glasses? Are you discouraged, uncertain, or hesitant as a result of the guidance? In most cases, people are not the happiest when they learn they need glasses, forgetting that better vision will improve the quality of their lives so greatly that they don't even realize they need them.

The trend of wearing spectacles is also fast becoming a fashion statement, with celebrities and movie stars showing off and promoting this accessory!

Below are general guidelines for choosing the frame that best suits your face.

Your optician will also offer you the following features to make your glasses more effective:

Anti-scratch coating:

All plastic lenses are more prone to scratching and abrasion than glass lenses. Therefore, all plastic lenses and high-index plastic lenses require a factory-applied anti-scratch coating to make the lens sufficiently durable.

Anti-reflective coating:

Anti-reflective coating eliminates reflections in the lenses that reduce contrast and brightness, especially at night. Thanks to them, the lenses are almost invisible, without distracting reflections and reflections in photos. This is especially important with high-index lenses, as they cause significant glare. An anti-reflective coating is also often recommended for people who work on screens for long hours.

UV-blocking Features:

Exposure to the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays has been linked to age-related eye problems, including cataracts and macular degeneration. Polycarbonate and almost all high-index plastic lenses have 100% UV protection built in, but others need an additional layer for UV protection.

Photochromic Features:

These lenses automatically darken in response to the sun's UV and High Energy Visible (HEV) light rays to function like sunglasses, then clear indoors. For an active outdoor lifestyle, these are an easy choice.

Blue Light Filter Coating:

If you are playing games on mobile or spending a lot of time using laptop then you need to wear blu ray blocker glasses.

Reading glasses

In case you are prescribed glasses, you can choose to have separate glasses for reading itself. If you need distance glasses, this can prove cumbersome if you are constantly switching between glasses. In that case, bifocal lenses are an easy and economical option.

The purpose of bifocal spectacles is to correct vision at two distances, usually far and near distances, but sometimes for intermediate (desktop) viewing and near reading as well. The difference is also visible on the glasses as either a straight line bisecting the glasses or more often a lateral D, defining the reading area of the lenses. Bifocals also do not correct for intermediate distances as required for use with a computer.

Presbyopes who want a smoother connection between distance and near vision are therefore offered multifocal lenses without a visible line separating the larger distance segment and the smaller near segment. These are also called progressive lenses and are significantly more expensive.
